Breaking Dawn is the fourth and last book of the Twilight Saga. If you have not read Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse before this book then it would be better to do so, as it would make things clearer. In Twilight, Bella moves from her mothers house to her fathers house which is in Forkes, where she falls in love with a vampire called Edward Cullen.
At the beginning Bella is embarassed about all the attention (or so she thinks) is brought to her by the engagement ring on her finger, (as Edward had given her in Eclipse.) As much as Bella loves Edward (a 107 year old vampire who has been stuck in the form of a 17 year old) she is embarassed by the fact that she is getting married at the age of 18, but as it is Edward's only wish, she agreed to do so. Another thing she finds is that the car she is driving which Edward also gave her, which he described as a 'simple mercedes' when it was given to her, had turned out to be a mercedes which wasn't available in Europe yet and was a car which was used as indestructible armour , as described by 2 pedestrians who stopped her. On the way home, Bella is in pensive thought about her relationship with Edward, she remembers the night that she had told Charlie (her father) about the fact that she was getting married, about the fact he already knew it was coming, and wasn't even shocked reaction surprised her, and her mother, who she thought would be very upset due to the fact she didn't agree with teenage marriages already thought they were engaged when they came to visit her in one of the previous books.
Bella finds a missing poster, a missing poster with saying "Have you seen this boy?" The boy was Jacob, her best friend who could turn himself into a werewolf at any time, she knew she had done this to him, she had caused him to run away. As shown in Eclipse, Jacob loves Bella, and Bella loves Jacob back, but she loves Edward more. Edward is not angry and understands this as he knows Bella loves him the most, and so a love triangle is formed. At the end of Eclipse Bella has to choose between Edward and Jacob, eventually Bella chooses Edward and is extremely upset, and Jacob runs in his werewolf form as far as he could, leaving his life in Forks behind...
Bella arrives home to find Charlie trying on his outfit for the wedding, being fitted by Alice, Edward's sister and Bella's soon to be sister in law. Alice wishes to get Bella to try on her outfit but Bella is not concerned about how she looks.
In the second chapter, it is Bella and Edward's last night as fiancee's, as Edward promised Bella anything she wanted in a previous book, she wanted to be changed into a vampire so she could be young forever with Edward, Edward expresses the dangers and difficulties of being a vampire, such as never being able to have children. As always, Bella tells Edward she is doing the right thing and is sure about her choice. Edward goes out with his brothers Emmett and Jasper for a stag night. Meanwhile, Bella is worrying about embarassments that may come to her as she walks down the aisle, such as tripping over, and everyone staring at her. The following day, Alice gets Bella ready and Charlie and Renee give Bella a present, two heavy silver hair combs, they were Bella's grandmothers. In the wedding vows, instead of saying "till death do us part" it was changed to "as long as we both shall live." At the party, Bella was enjoying it, meeting many new vampires, happy that the wolf pack had come to visit, but there was one part of her missing.. Jacob. She turned around to find Jacob there and was complete. But as Jacob and Bella continued to talk Jacob started to get angry, and lost control. He threatened to kill Edward (as vampires and wolves do not get on, and Jacob new Edward would turn Bella into a vampire). Bella was very upset at the fact she had messed up her wedding, but overcame her sadness when they arrived at the destination, Isle Esmee. This was an island that Carsisle (Edwards father) had got for Esmee (Edwards mother) for their honeymoon. Bella and Edward went for a swim in the moonlight and enjoyed their honeymoon. Everything was going very well until Bella became sick, and had all the symptoms of pregnancy, she had to be rushed back immediatley.
When they arrive back Bella is very weak and cannot move, as the baby is half vampire and half human, it is eating Bella's insides. The only way to satisfy the baby is to feed it human blood, as Carsisle is a doctor he has many blood donations and gets Bella to drink it. As noone can tell Charlie that Bella is pregnant this way as noone knows the Cullens are vampires.
Eventually it is time for the baby to be born but as the baby is unusual, it eats itself out of her stomach, as Carsisle is away trying to get more blood, Edward has to rip open Bella's stomach with his teeth, which are much sharper than knives, and Bella is in a lot of pain. She is in so much pain, in fact, that it is very unlikely that she will survive, but as she slowly slips away from life, Edward has some vampire venom in which he can inject into her, as he does Bella slowly turns into a vampire, the process takes a few days and is more painful than anything in the world. Meanwhile, Jacob imprints (goes out of their way to protect and can possibly fall in love with) on the baby. And as Bella wakes up as a vampire, she decides to call the baby Renesmee, a combination of her mothers name- Renee and Edwards mothers name- Esmee. Bella is blood thirsty so she goes hunting with Edward and Renesmee and Bella discovers that she has a special power which is to control her thirst when humans are nearby which is almost impossible for newborn vampires, and Irina, who's loved one tried to kill Bella but Jacob killed him, and Irina had been mourning for a long time, spotted Renesmee, and thought she was one of the immortal children, who were evil vampire children who caused lots of trouble in the vampire world, and reported her to the volturi, who in the vampire world are royalty.
The volturi are coming soon so the Cullens have to round up many vampire families so be witnesses of Renesmee, and Renesmee has a special power, as she puts her hand on someones face, she can show the memories that she has seen in her short life. Meanwhile, Jacob is angry at the fact that Bella has been changed into a vampire so he tries to tell Charlie everything, he shows him that he is a vampire, and Bella is able to cover up and say that she is fine now and the child is a relative of Edwards. As many vampires are rounded up to try and be witnesses, many give up and believe they will lose and get hurt so walk away. Jasper and Alice run away and no-one knows where they have gone. For Renesmee's safety, Bella goes to see a special agent who makes her a fake passport, and Jacob and Renesmee have to go far away.
In the end, the vampires are successful, but Irine is killed for lying. As the rest of her family mourn, the other vampires celebrate the fact that the Volturi were scared so didn't cause any trouble.
At the back of the book there is a list of every vampire which I found very helpful. I highly recommend this book, as it really grabs your attention. The end is unexpected which made it even better. I would recommend this book aged from 13 onwards for any gender.
